Winning partner play

Once you know the basics of partner play, a few team habits turn close games into wins.

1. 1Make a strong lead (la salida). Lead from your longest number, ideally with its double, so the double doesn't get stuck in your hand.
2. 2Answer your partner. When they lead a number, keep it open for them. If you have to play, play on the other end.
3. 3Cover the other team's number. When an opponent leads a number or keeps coming back to it, cover it (tapar) when you can.
4. 4Let your partner win. If your partner has fewer tiles than you, open their number instead of racing to go out yourself.
5. 5Count as a team. An opponent's pass tells you both something. So does your partner's: don't open the numbers they're out of.
