Playing with a partner

In partner dominoes, four players make two teams. Partners sit across from each other, so turns alternate between teams. If either partner goes out, the whole team wins the hand and shares the score.

The golden rule is no table talk. You can't tell your partner what you're holding. But every tile you play says something, and good partners listen.

1. 1Your first tile is a message. Lead with a number you hold a lot of, and your partner will try to keep that number open for you.
2. 2Watch what your partner plays and what they pass on. If they pass on fives, they have no fives, so don't leave fives open for them.
3. 3Don't cover your partner's number (in Spanish, tapar). If they keep playing fours, try not to block the four end.
4. 4Play to make the opponents pass. Every time they pass, your team gets closer to going out.
